Happy fall! Personally, fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the chilly weather, yummy food, cozy TV shows, and seeing the leaves change color.

I also love a good fall bucket list, especially one that is relatively realistic (because they’re supposed to be fun). So, with that being said, here are ten things that I think are must-dos before the fall season ends, the snow flies, and all our attention turns to the holidays.

1. Visit a pumpkin patch.

This is number one on my fall bucket list list for a reason! There are a couple local pumpkin patches in my area that are absolutely adorable (see pics below). Some allow you to pick your pumpkin, while others have pre-picked pumpkins for sale. They also sell zucchini, squash, fresh honey, vegetables, and more. Going and picking out some pumpkins is always one of the highlights of my fall.

We also grow pumpkins in our at-home pumpkin patch (along with some other fruits/veggies). Harvest time is always fun, and if you want to see my favorite parts of fall at home click here.

2. Pick apples.

We’re lucky enough to have some apple trees of our own to pick from, and the apples this year are delicious. There are also some local orchards around here that provide quite the fall experience.

3. Wear your coziest sweater.

During fall it gets very cold very quickly where I live, and snow flies by mid to late October. For that reason, sweaters are a must-have. Plus, I don’t think there is a clothing item that screams fall more than a cozy sweater. One of my favorites this year is this half-zip I found on Amazon!

4. Go stargazing.

I love stargazing any time of the year, but the sky really puts on a show in the fall. There are a few strong meteor showers to look out for, plus October and November are peak months for the northern lights in Michigan. So, if you’re into stars/space, make sure to look up at the sky this fall.

5. Watch a fall show/movie.

For me, this does NOT mean a horror movie. My idea of a good fall night is staying in and watching Gilmore Girls (aka re-watching it for the millionth time), cuddled up on the couch. So, if you’re a scaredy cat like me here are some other cozy, fun, and festive shows/movies that won’t make you scared of the dark.

6. Decorate!

I LOVE decorating for all the seasons, and fall colors make for an especially cozy atmosphere. Also, this is our last chance to fully decorate the front porch before it’s completely covered in snow for winter (then decorating is pretty much limited to a wreath).

We also host a pumpkin carving party every year for my family, so there’s an opportunity for Halloween party decorations to make an appearance before all the Christmas trees and snowmen take over!

7. Make a fall playlist.

Some songs just feel cozy to me, making them perfect for the season. Plus, a themed playlist can make number nine on this list even more of a fun fall experience!

8. Burn a fall candle.

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Whether your favorite scent is pumpkin spice or cinnamon chai, a fall candle can make a space feel even more “fall-ish”. However, if you’re not a big candle person, making a fall simmer pot is another great option to make your home smell fall-ish.

9. Take a drive to look at the fall colors.

The colors in Michigan are beautiful this time of year (and that’s an understatement). If you’re also in a place where the leaves put on a show, make the time to take a drive and check them out. You’ll be thankful you did, because even pictures can’t fully capture just how pretty they are (although I think the pic below comes close).

10. Bake a fall dessert.

It’s time for fall baking! Pumpkin bars and zucchini cake are a couple of my personal favorites, but whip up whatever you love. Then enjoy it while watching a movie or reading a good book.
