Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, and it’s especially beautiful where I love. Here are some of my favorite parts of being home during fall:
The colors are beautiful.
Fall colors peaked here around late September into early October, which is when the picture below was taken. Now we’re seeing more yellow than orange or red as the leaves change on the birch trees. Regardless, it’s beautiful and one of my favorite things to do during fall is drive around and look at the colors.
It's time to harvest everything we grew.
Zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkins, apples- everything is ready to pick now. There’s nothing like freshly picked apples to snack on or homegrown pumpkins to carve for Halloween.

It's pumpkin party time.
Every year we have a pumpkin party, where we carve pumpkins that we grew. None of us are professional pumpkin carvers by any means, but it’s a lot of fun. Check out my pumpkin from this year’s party!
(Also, yes those are red Christmas lights inside the pumpkin- it’s part of a pumpkin totem pole we make every year.)
Fall food is the best.
There are certain foods in our household that you only start eating once it gets chillier out. That means fall is soup season (my favorite!). We’ve also been eating A LOT of zucchini lately, including this double chocolate zucchini cake.
It's just cozy.
I mean look at this picture of a local pumpkin patch and tell me it doesn’t look like a Hallmark movie. Fall really feels like fall at home, and I love it.
