It's fall, which means it's harvest time.

The growing season is fairly short here, but we managed to grow quite a few fruits and veggies. Check out everything we grew below.

Apples

We have about a dozen apple trees that are about 13 or 14 years old. They are starting to produce a lot of fruit, which is great! The apples are sweet and all the ones we don’t use are enjoyed by the deer and turkeys  that wander around the house a lot of days.

Zucchini

Our plants produced a lot of zucchini this year, like WAY too much for us to use. Needless to say, there were a lot of chocolate zucchini cakes baked, eaten, and shared with family this year.

Big Pumpkins

Our pumpkins got kind of a late start this year because the ground was so wet where our patch is (and we didn’t want the seeds to rot, so we planted them a bit later than usual). However, they grew really well given the amount of time they had. There were a lot we were able to carve, and the rest we used to decorate the front porch!

Mini Pumpkins

Mini pumpkins always grow well here and this year was no exception. We grew a mix of smaller pumpkins and even some small squash. They’re adorable and look super cute in a decorative bowl inside.

(TIP: Wash these off with bleach water solution before decorating with them inside. It helps reduce the risk of them rotting, which you may not even notice right away if you have a bunch of them in a bowl.)

Tomatoes and Peppers

There’s nothing like fresh cherry tomatoes and jalapeños used to make some fresh salsa, and we had a lot of each!

Herbs

This year we grew basil, Greek oregano, sage, and rosemary. All of the plants did really well and we’re in the process of drying a lot of the herbs to use later.

Peas

I love fresh peas, and I’ve found that my favorite variety for snacking is the Oregon Sugar Pod II variety. They’re super low maintenance, it’s not necessary to thin them, and they produce a ton of peas.

& Dahlias

I’m including these even though they’re obviously not edible, but they sure are beautiful! This is only one of the kinds we grew this year, and we plan on replanting the tubers in the spring.

That's it for this year...

If you garden, what did you grow? Let me know down below, and check out some of my favorite parts of fall at home here.
