As a new month begins, it’s the perfect time for a mini fresh start or reset. Journaling can be a great way to reflect, set intentions, and create new goals for the upcoming month. In this post, I’ve compiled 7 journal prompts to help you start your month off right. So grab your journal and your favorite pen- let’s get started!

Journal prompts for a new month:

1. What are your goals this month?

Think about what you want to accomplish this month. I like to list 3-4 goals for the month, depending on what I have going on. Keep in mind your big goals for the year for this one as well!

2. How are you going to achieve these goals?

Goals are great on their own, but think about how you are going to accomplish them as well.

3. What are you grateful for?

I don’t know if there’s a more positive way to start off a new month than to count your blessings. List the people and things you are grateful for at the beginning of the month, as many as you want- you can never be too grateful!

4. What do you want to focus on this month?

What are your main focuses for the month going to be? Maybe it will be avoiding procrastination or working on a certain project. I like to list 3-4 big focuses for the month ahead.

5. What do you want more of this month?

Maybe it’s reading in place of screen time or more home-cooked meals instead of eating out. List some things you want more of in the upcoming month. I typically list 5 to 10 of these.

6. What are you letting go of this month?

On the opposite end, what do you want to let go of this month? I like listing 5 to 10 items for this category as well.

7. What are you most looking forward to this month?

This one is pretty self-explanatory. I like to make a list of around 5 things that I’m looking forward to during the upcoming month. Remember they don’t have to be “big” things, just whatever you’re excited about!
