So you’ve re-watched Gilmore Girls for the one-hundredth time and are now looking for something new to watch- just to mix it up a little before you re-watch it again of course! Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Here are 5 shows to watch if you love Gilmore Girls.

Shows To Watch If You Love Gilmore Girls:

1. Hart of Dixie

Rachel Bilson plays Zoe Hart, a New York doctor who moves to a small southern town to take over a family practice. There’s plenty of romance, drama, and comedy in this series as Zoe tries to find her place in Bluebell. The small town setting may look extra familiar for Gilmore Girls fans since Hart of Dixie used the same set for Bluebell’s town square as was used for Stars Hollow!

2. Sweet Magnolias

Sweet Magnolias centers around three women living in a small South Carolina town who have been friends since they were just little girls. They face all sorts of issues related to family, career, and their love lives, always supporting each other. It is a lighthearted, sweet show with an emphasis on the importance of family, friendship, and community, which will likely appeal to any fans of Gilmore Girls.

3. Virgin River

Nurse practitioner Mel Monroe moves from LA to Virgin River and begins working at the small town’s medical clinic. There is plenty of drama, romance, quirky characters, and beautiful scenery. Mel also spends a lot of time at Jack’s Bar, reminiscent of Lorelai’s presence at Luke’s Diner. All in all, I think any Gilmore Girls fan would love this series.

4. Friday Night Lights

Gilmore Girls fans will likely appreciate that Friday Night Lights is set in a small town, but the big difference is that this one is obsessed with football. Coach Eric Taylor guides a high school football team through intense seasons as they face pressure from all sides to make it to (and win) the state championship.

This series has a bit more of a serious tone and explores the trials and tribulations of living in a small town in America. The show uses documentary-style filming and real locations (not sets), giving it a very authentic feel. Even if you are not a fan of football, I think you’d like this show!

5. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

This show follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel as she begins a stand-up comedy career in 1950s New York City with the help of her agent Susie Myerson. While it is a very different show from Gilmore Girls, it was created by the same person- Amy Sherman-Palladino. There is a lot of fast talking throughout the show, similar to the fast-paced dialogue heard in Gilmore Girls.
