Chances are you have seen some sort of post about a Stanley cup recently as you’ve scrolled through Instagram or Facebook or anywhere really (and no, I’m not talking about hockey). The extra-large tumbler has taken over the internet and the hype has resulted in crazy demand for new editions of the cup. In January, people actually lined up and waited overnight outside Target stores to get their hands on new Valentine’s Stanley cups.

Personally, I don’t own a Stanley Cup. However, I would like to clarify that I am NOT a Stanley hater- I’ve just found another cup I love. Here’s my favorite Stanley Cup alternative!

My very favorite Stanley Cup alternative is the Corkcicle Cold Cup XL. Here's why I love it...

The Size

The Cold Cup XL holds 30 oz., which I think is the perfect size for day-to-day use. It’s large and can hold a lot of whatever beverage you are drinking, even with ice. I think the cup is able to maintain a more sleek silhouette since it holds a bit less than some popular 40 oz. tumblers.

The Color

I’ll be honest, the color Berry Punch is what attracted me to this cup at first since I am such a pink type of girl. As you can see in the picture above, it is a true bright, hot pink, fuchsia-ish color. I love it! I’ll just never get sick of a good hot pink.

However, if Berry Punch is not really your jam (pun intended)- no worries! The cup comes in a bunch of colors and finishes, including neutrals and more fun, bright colors and patterns.

It’s Tough

I use this cup to hold my water every single day, and I am not particularly careful with it. It has been bumped around and taken pretty much everywhere I go- to class, in and out of cars, to the pool, outside on walks, with me on errands, etc. I am happy to report that after over a year of daily use, the matte-finish paint looks the same as when I got it.

Cold Drinks Stay Cold

Corkcicle advertises that the Cold Cup XL is triple-insulated and keeps drinks cold for 12 hours. Based on my experience, I think it keeps them cold even longer, especially if you use ice. It has kept my drinks cold all day, even when left out in the sun.

Personally, I don’t use this cup for hot drinks, but Corkcicle does boast that it will keep them warm for 5 hours.

It Doesn’t Fall Over (!!!)

This cup has a silicone bottom on it so it does not slip. This is one of my favorite things about it because having a big ol’ jug of water sliding around and falling over all the time is irritating, to say the least.

Other Pros

  • The Cold Cup XL comes with a matching ceramic-coated metal straw, which is so cute. The silicone straw tab keeps water from leaking around it. You can use other kinds of straws with it as well if you are like me and don’t always want to use a metal one (especially when driving).

  • It has a spill-proof centerline cap, which means it does not screw on. Since this is the cup I use for water every day, I end up refilling it a lot and prefer the cap to be easy to remove but still leakproof. (If you like a screw-on lid, check out the Corkcicle Cruiser below.)

  • It’s cupholder-friendly.

  • The handle is super comfortable and has the same matte finish as the rest of the cup, which makes it easy to grip.

(Please note that not all versions of the Cold Cup XL have a matte finish, so make sure you check if you’re looking at a style other than the Berry Punch one I have.)

Cold Cup XL vs Corkcicle Classic Tumbler

Corkcicle Cold Cup XL and Corkcicle Classic Tumbler

While the Cold Cup XL is relatively new, Corkcicle has been making its Classic Tumbler for years and years. Before the Cold Cup XL came out, it was my go-to. I still use mine pretty often for other drinks, in addition to my Cold Cup for water.

The Classic Tumbler comes in a bunch of colors and holds 24 oz., slightly less than the Cold Cup XL. One of the biggest differences is that the Classic Tumbler does not have a handle, something that I really like about the Cold Cup. It has a clear sliding lid, so you can see your drink. You can also use a straw with this cup or skip it and just sip your drink without one.

Both tumblers are cupholder-friendly, but the Cold Cup keeps drinks hot and cold for a slightly longer time. Overall both are great options! It just depends on what you’re looking for in a cup.

Below is one of my favorite Corkcicle Classic Tumblers in the color Nebula, which has a really cool metallic finish.

The Corkcicle Cruiser

Do you want a cup that holds a bit more than 30 ounces? Corkcicle recently came out with their new extra-large Cruiser tumbler. The Cruiser holds 40 oz. and keeps drinks cold for up to 20 hours, while still being cupholder-friendly. So, if you need something larger, check it out!

I would say that this cup’s size and look are most similar to the oh-so-popular Stanley. So if you’re searching for something super similar, this one’s for you!

I’m sure it’s a shock (not), but I LOVE the two pink styles above!

Again if you are not a pink lover, Corkcicle offers a lot of other fun colors and patterns. I really like some of the cups done in collaboration with Rifle Paper Co., like the one below. Make sure you browse all of the colors and styles though- there are a lot of cute ones!

NEW! The Go Cup XL

A little August 2024 update- Corkcicle just came out with a new addition to their tumbler line, the Go Cup XL. This cup features a leak-proof screw-on lid, a foldable straw, and a flexible handle, making it the perfect cup for when you’re on the go.

Like Corkcicle’s other cups, it keeps drinks cold for a long time, 12 hours in this case. It holds 30 oz., the same amount my favorite Cold Cup XL holds.

  1. Hey, I really like the cold cup xl in either Pacific Blue or That pretty cool looking pattern of the “Dopamine Floral”! I looked into different ones, slick looking, I like the features of the Cold cup xl vs the Corkcicle cruiser. I do like the Stanley Cup tumbler different things about them, the colors etc… in my personal opinion, the whole craze is just whoa!! Seems a bit overboard. I’ve read various stories online about them and crazy things that have occurred.
