Olaplex is famous for its patented bond-building technology used in its various haircare products and salon treatments. Once salon-exclusive, the brand now offers an array of products to be used regularly at home.
I was first introduced to Olaplex by my hairstylist, who used it on me when I went in to get my hair done. I loved how my hair felt leaving the salon so much that I have now incorporated many Olaplex products into my regular haircare routine. From shampoo to oil, in this post I’ll be talking about my favorites from the brand and why I love them.
First, a little about my hair.
Since everyone’s hair is different and may react to products differently, I’ll talk a little about my own hair before getting into my favorite products. I have very long, straight, highlighted hair (as seen below). I get my hair highlighted every 3 to 4 months. My hairstylist does a wonderful job at blending my highlights in so my roots grow out more naturally, which allows me to go a bit longer between appointments.
While bleach is obviously not great for your hair, my hair is still healthy and has grown down to my belly button. I’ve always had long hair that grows fairly quickly, so I can’t attribute my hair growth to any particular product. However, I do think Olaplex has helped my hair maintain its health and shine even at the blondest I’ve ever been.
Some other notes about my hair- I wash my hair very frequently, but I do not use a lot of heat on it. I rarely curl it, and only straighten it every once in a while. I do blow dry my hair, but typically after letting it air dry for a bit and not every time I wash it.
Okay, now let’s get into some of favorite Olaplex products.
My Olaplex Favorites:
This is my normal day-to-day shampoo, and I love how clean it makes my hair feel while still being hydrating. I focus on my roots when shampooing, and only need a small (about nickel-sized) amount of this product to lather my entire head. The smell is also great- light, fresh, and not overpowering.
I started with a normal 8.5 oz. bottle of the shampoo, which lasted me a couple months. However, if you’re going to commit to using Olaplex long-term, buying larger sizes can be a better deal. The 67.62 oz. bottle above came from Rue La La. It was a great deal and was basically like getting 2.5 of the normal-size bottles for free.

I use this toning shampoo about once every 7 to 10 days to brighten up my blonde and get rid of any brassiness. I’ve tried a couple other purple shampoos and this one is by far my favorite. It’s very effective but doesn’t feel drying- highly recommend!

I use the No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner every time I wash my hair. I typically leave it in for a few minutes before rinsing. I definitely have to use more of this product than shampoo because I apply a generous amount from the middle of my hair through the ends (focusing more heavily on the ends). As with any conditioner, I stay away from my roots with this product.
I think that this product, along with the following oil and a couple other leave-ins have really helped make my hair easier to detangle. My hair can be a horribly knotty mess without any help, so that’s a big plus for me. This also leaves my hair feeling hydrated and soft- love!

I love, love, love this hair oil. This was the first Olaplex product I bought after my hairstylist used it on me because I loved how shiny it made my hair. I use this after every hair wash, applying from the middle of my hair through my ends while my hair is still wet/damp. I also occasionally use it on my hair when it’s dry to add some extra shine.
I use quite a bit of this product and it’s never made my hair feel greasy or look stringy. I do have quite a bit of hair though, so take that with a grain of salt. My mom also uses this product but has much shorter hair, and she has said that her hair will begin to look greasy if she uses too much. So, I’d say less is more to start!
The bottle looks very small, but the product lasts quite a while (obviously depending on how much/how often you use it). A little really does go a long way. Also, the smell of this product is great, which just adds to the experience. You want your hair to smell good, you know?

This is the newest part of my hair care routine. Olaplex recommends using this leave-in treatment once a week, or two to three times a week for damaged hair. When I use this, I dampen my hair and then add a generous amount of the Hair Perfector from the middle of my hair through the ends. It says on the bottle that you can apply from your scalp through your ends, but I don’t want anything too heavy on my roots and I feel like I really need this product on the blonder, dryer, and older portions of my hair.
Olaplex says to leave this treatment on for a minimum of 10 minutes, but I typically leave it on for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Then I rinse it out and follow up with the rest of my normal hair-wash routine.
The first time I used this, I wasn’t sure if I would really notice any difference afterward. However, this left my hair feeling so, so soft! I will definitely be incorporating it into my routine more regularly in the future.

Those are all of the Olaplex products in my current routine.
I think there are a lot of components to hair health, like products, the amount of heat you use, what kind of hairstyles you wear, genetics, and more. Personally, I feel like my hair has looked and felt healthier since I’ve incorporated these products into my routine. My hair is pretty blonde right now but I think it is shinier, healthier, and softer than ever. Thank you Olaplex!
