This cinnamon applesauce bread is super moist, slightly spiced, and topped with the most delicious maple glaze. In my opinion, it’s the perfect fall treat. Plus it’s a great way to use up any extra applesauce sitting in your fridge, like the few jars of homemade applesauce that I used for this batch of bread.

Cinnamon Applesauce Bread With Maple Cream Cheese Glaze
This cinnamon applesauce bread is slightly spiced, super moist, and topped with a yummy maple cream cheese glaze. It's a great way to use up any leftover applesauce in your fridge and serves as a perfect fall treat!

Ingredients
Cinnamon Applesauce Bread
- 1 cup salted butter softened
- 1½ cups white granulated sugar
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sour cream, plus 1 heaping tbsp
- 2 tsp vanilla extract (shop my favorite on Amazon)
- 2 cups sweetened cinnamon applesauce (See Note 2 below)
- 4 cups flour sifted
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- 1-2 tbsp white granulated sugar for sprinkling on the loaves before baking
Maple Cream Cheese Glaze
- 4 oz salted butter very softened
- 4 oz cream cheese very softened
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp almond extract
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Cinnamon Applesauce Bread
- Preheat your oven to 340°F.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream your softened salted butter, white sugar, and light brown sugar together. Add eggs one at a time and mix until well incorporated.1 cup salted butter, 1½ cups white granulated sugar, ½ cup light brown sugar, 4 eggs
- Add vanilla extract, sour cream, and cinnamon applesauce and mix on medium speed until completely combined.2 cups sour cream, plus 1 heaping tbsp, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 2 cups sweetened cinnamon applesauce
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.4 cups flour, 2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, ½ tsp salt
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients about 1/2 – 1 cup at a time, mixing on low speed until well combined.
- Place your 6 small loaf pans on a large sheet pan. Spray the loaf pans with baking spray of your choice (See Note 3 below). Pour equal amounts of your batter into each pan- they should be about 2/3 full. Lightly sprinkle the extra white granulated sugar across the top of each loaf before baking to create a bit of a sugary crust on top.1-2 tbsp white granulated sugar
- Bake the applesauce bread at 340°F for 40 minutes, turning the pan at the 20-minute mark to ensure all loaves bake evenly. Check with a toothpick to ensure the middles of the loaves are baked through. Then allow to cool in the pans for 10-15 minutes before removing the loaves and placing them on a cooling rack. Meanwhile… make your maple glaze to drizzle on top of the bread.
Maple Cream Cheese Glaze
- Ensure that the salted butter and cream cheese are very softened, to the point that they are starting to melt. Add all ingredients to a medium mixing bowl.4 oz salted butter, 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tbsp maple syrup, 2 tbsp milk, ½ tsp almond extract, ½ tsp vanilla extract, ½ cup powdered sugar
- Using a hand mixer, mix for 3-4 minutes on medium speed, until all ingredients are well combined and the glaze is smooth with no lumps.
- Once your applesauce loaves have cooled, drizzle your maple glaze over the top. I like to put the glaze in a piping bag (or a Ziploc bag with a hole cut in it) to easily pipe the glaze over the top of the loaves. (See Note 4 below)
- Slice up your cinnamon applesauce bread and enjoy! Store in a sealed container to prevent the loaves from drying out.
Notes from the Happy To Be Here Kitchen
Note 1: Yield. Instead of 6 small loaves, this recipe will also make 2 regular loaves (9″ x 5″) of applesauce bread. Just increase the baking time to 45 – 55 minutes, baking at 340°F and checking with a toothpick to ensure the middles are baked through. Do not overbake.
Note 2: Applesauce. I use homemade applesauce (recipe here) in these muffins, which includes both sugar and cinnamon already. You can easily substitute store-bought cinnamon applesauce or regular sweetened applesauce. Just add a bit more cinnamon to the recipe to suit your taste if you'd like.
Note 3: Baking Spray. Make sure you use a baking spray specifically when prepping the loaf pans (I like this one on Amazon). If you do not have a baking spray, you can line the pans with parchment and spray them with regular cooking spray. Or, spray the loaf pans with regular cooking spray and then lightly coat them with a 1:1 mixture of flour and white granulated sugar.
Note 3: Glaze. If you prefer your glaze to be a runnier/more pourable consistency, add 1 to 2 extra tablespoons of milk.
