Halloween is over, which means the Christmas season is upon us.

I am definitely one of those people who thinks that the Christmas season officially begins at midnight on November 1st. Actually, to tell the truth, I bought a couple Christmas things from Walmart on Halloween this year. Anyway, if you can’t tell, Christmas is my definitely my favorite holiday. Here are a few things I’m looking forward to as the season starts.

Decorating

Decorating for Christmas is quite the ordeal in our house, and we have to start pretty early to get it all done. One of my favorite parts of decorating is putting up our black lab themed Christmas tree. A lot of the ornaments on it are ones we’ve had since I was just a little girl, and the whole thing is just so cute and cozy.

Some of my favorite ornaments:

Here’s JJ in front of his JJ-themed tree:

Even the tree skirt is JJ-themed!

We also put up a Christmas village every year. We’ve been adding on to it for probably fourteen or fifteen years now, and it’s super cute all lit up at night. Our addition this year is a little group of cows (just because I think they’re cute).

(P.S. Don’t worry we’re not skipping over Thanksgiving here! It’s also one of my favorite holidays, and definitely the biggest food day of the year. We  keep some fall decorations up in our dining room so Thanksgiving feels like its own holiday and not just a pre-Christmas party.)

Holiday baking

Holiday treats are the best. My favorite Christmas desserts are cheesecake, fudge, Christmas cookies, and… all of them really. I also love making gingerbread houses and am looking forward to doing that with my family some time in December.

Christmas movies!!

I could watch Christmas movies all year round, and I do sometimes. There’s something really comforting about them, especially ones I’ve watched since I was a little kid. My personal favorites are Elf (#1 always), the Santa Clause movies, Home Alone, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the Jim Carrey version).

Christmas shopping

I love buying gifts that I know people will love (but I have a really, really hard time keeping them a secret until Christmas).I also actually really enjoy wrapping gifts, even though I am NOT good at it.

If you need some inspo, watch out for my holiday gift guides.

Time with family

This one is the most important of them all! I feel really grateful for my family all the time, but especially during the holidays.

What are you looking forward to this Christmas season?
