We’re back to listing my 2023 favorites. Today’s topic-makeup! For some context, I am a big makeup lover. I used to be a competitive dancer and taught myself stage makeup by watching YouTube videos. Through this, I found a real love for makeup and now doing my makeup is one of the most calming parts of my day. I love trying new products, so here’s a list of some of my makeup favorites of 2023.

My 2023 Makeup Favorites:

1. Fenty Gloss Bomb Lip Luminizer

The Fenty Gloss Bomb Lip Luminizer in the shade FU$$Y is probably my most reached-for gloss ever. It’s a perfect shade of pink and very shimmery/shiny without being sticky. I’ve only been using it since the beginning of 2023 and have already gone through two tubes! Overall, it’s a definite 10/10 for me.

2. Elf Glow Reviver Tinted Lip Oil

This Elf lip oil went viral as a dupe for the Dior Lip Glow Oil. I can’t speak to its similarity to the Dior oil as I have never tried it, but I can say that I was very pleasantly surprised by the Elf oil. I was very worried that it would be sticky, like the last lip oil I had tried before it. However, it is not sticky at all and is incredibly hydrating. It looks glossy and is slightly pigmented (I use the shade Pink Quartz).

3. Elf Halo Glow Contour & Highlight Beauty Wands

Here’s another example of Elf products that are supposedly a dupe for higher-end alternatives. Elf’s Halo Glow blush, highlight, and contour wands are supposed to be dupes for the Charlotte Tilbury ones. Again I can’t speak to their similarity to the product they are supposed to be duping, but I can say that I loved both the highlight and contour wands.

I use the light/medium shade in the contour wand, and it is a beautiful color that is somewhere between a bronzer and contour. It blends very easily and, despite its packaging appearing small, lasts a really long time. The shade I use for highlight is called Champaign Campaign. The highlight is also very blendable and has enough shine to peek through powder after I set it.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

This brow pencil by Anastasia Beverly Hills was a great addition to my brow routine this year. It’s a very fine-tip pencil compared to others I have used, making it perfect for making hair-like strokes at the beginning of the brow. I use the taupe shade, which matches my brows well. I will definitely be bringing this one into the new year with me!

5. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

I have a couple shades of the very popular Rare Beauty liquid blush. I was not a fan of liquid blush before this one, but now I am! It is very pigmented, so you only need a small amount to look flushed. It lays nicely on the skin and does not lift any makeup underneath it. I set it with powder and the pigment lasts all day. Overall, I love it!

6. Laura Geller Casual Collection Eye Shadow Palette

2023 was the year that I discovered Laura Geller, and more specifically, the brand’s eyeshadow palettes. The Casual Collection Rose & Taupe palette was my favorite and most reached-for palette in 2023 by far. I am and forever will be a neutral lover when it comes to makeup, and this palette is filled with beautiful neutrals that allow you to create a lot of looks. The shadows blend very easily and have a nice color payoff. Overall, this palette was so heavily used by me this year that it is no longer very picture-perfect, which I think is a true mark of love for an eyeshadow palette.
