I love journaling, and I use certain daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly prompts to reflect and, honestly, just because they’re fun. However, there are times when I want to mix it up and add some other pages throughout my journal using different formats. Here are 10 journal page ideas to inspire you when you want to mix up your journaling routine.
Journal Page Ideas to Try:
1. Month With Zero Context
Dedicate a page at the beginning of the month to come back to and write down little notes, memorable moments, or inside jokes with absolutely zero context. This is the perfect place to write down memorable parts of the month without going into much detail because sometimes writing paragraphs and paragraphs feels like a bit too much. Plus, it’s fun to look back on this collection of little moments at the end of the month.
2. Your Current Playlist
Write down 5 or 10 or 20 songs that you are currently listening to at the moment. I go through different phases with the music I listen to, depending on my mood and what’s going on in my life. This is a nice way to look back on what I was feeling at a certain time based on the music I was listening to.
3. Brain Dump
Write down what you are thinking, feeling, frustrated about, happy about, etc. No rules, no format, no worrying about aesthetics- just writing down whatever you need to at the moment.
4. Gratitude List
If you have read any other journaling posts on this blog, you won’t be surprised that this one made the list. Write down a all the people, opportunities, or other things you are grateful for in your life. These lists always leave me in a good mood.
5. TBR List
Write down a list of all the books on your TBR (to be read) list that you can refer back to at any time. You could also write down a list of books you haven’t purchased yet, but that you think you might like based on recommendations or reviews you have seen/read.
6. Book Reviews
Dedicate a page of your journal to a book you recently read, including your rating, why you rated it that way, a summary, your favorite parts of the story, memorable quotes, and whatever else you would like to include. I do this every once in a while for books that I absolutely love, so I remember how I felt after I read them for the first time.
7. Quotes & Reminders
Dedicate a page to quotes you’ve come across that you like or reminders that you feel are relevant to you and your life at the moment. Feel free to decorate the page and make it aesthetically pleasing!
8. A Scrapbook Page
Maybe you want to include memories from a certain day in your journal, like a birthday or graduation, but not just in written form. Use a page in your journal to scrapbook and capture these memories more visually. Include pictures, pretty paper, decorative tape, stickers, and/or anything else you want to tape or glue onto the page relating to the theme.
9. Things That Make You Happy
Dedicate a page to a bunch of things that make you happy, big or small. List them or, if you’re artsy, draw them!
10. Upcoming Events
List out upcoming events for the next week or month. I use a planner to organize my day/week/month, but during particularly busy times I also like to list upcoming events in my journal. I find that it helps me organize my thoughts and prioritize what’s coming up in my life.
