I love looking at winter outfit inspiration on Pinterest, but an unfortunate reality for me is that a lot of the outfits I see are just not practical for the weather where I live. It’s much too cold and snowy on a daily basis here for skirts and tights, or for walking around without a warm jacket. For instance, some inspo pics include boots that look cute, but will they keep my feet warm? Do they have good traction on ice? I have some logistical concerns when it comes to winter fashion, which is why I’m always on the lookout for items that I think are cute and that will actually keep me warm.

Today we’re talking about one such item that I love- a pair of mittens by Hestra. If you’re not familiar, Hestra is a Swedish company specializing in high-end gloves and mittens made for both winter sports/activities and casual wear. My favorite mittens so far this winter are by the brand, and they’ve become a staple in my closet as temperatures have dropped below zero.

Hestra Mittens

These mittens are called the Women’s Nordic Wool Mitt. Hestra categorizes these mittens as meant for “fashion” (aka not winter sports like skiing) and they are not waterproof. The outer shell is composed of 85% wool and 15% polyamide, and the inside lining is made of 50% wool and 50% polyester.

Hestra does not use a typical “small, medium, large” sizing scale, so you will have to measure your hand if you order these online. I wear a size 7 and find that there is a bit of give to the mittens (but not very much).

Why I Love Them

These mittens keep my hands very warm- like very, very warm. I’ve had them for over a year and they’ve become my go-to for going out in cold temperatures, although I would not wear them to go snow tubing, skiing, etc. Again, they are not waterproof. For going out to the store, to school, to work- to wherever else you need to go in the cold- these are perfect!

I am a huge fan of the entire look or aesthetic of these mittens. I think the Fair Isle knit is so classic and cozy. The black and white option that I have goes with everything, but the red and white pair in the same style are also super cute! They give off a very holiday/Christmas vibe to me.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the craftsmanship and quality of these mittens are amazing. They are beautifully made and definitely go into the category of warm and stylish!

  1. 🫶🏼♥️this Camy!! I am a quarter Swede, something such as that, anywho. I think I may of heard of this brand, they are beautiful, can tell they’re quality made, too!! I’ll need to look into this. I have big hands, they are legit the size of Justin’s, I think mine are even a lil bit longer actually 🫢 I’m going to look into Hestra w/the red & white mitts!! I really like outerwear, especially gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, headbands etc.. I need to keep warm, because I really get cold. The mittens you & your mom picked out for Jeanann were super cute btw, were those the Nordic wool mitts, different brand? I didn’t get to look at them much really

Keep it up, I have quite enjoyed your page! 💕

    1. My hands get so cold too, which is why I love these! Jeanann’s weren’t from Hestra- just from a little shop around here. We thought she’d like the purple!

      Thank you ❤️ 🫶🏼
