Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!! I’m sure many of you will be tuning in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in the biggest game of the year tonight. Here’s a little rundown of what I’m looking forward to this Super Bowl Sunday:
1. The Performers
- Usher will headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The “OMG” and “Yeah!” singer also recently shot a campaign with SKIMS, which will offer an exclusive special edition of Usher’s new album Coming Home.
- Alicia Keys is expected to join Usher during the halftime show.
- Reba will sing the national anthem before the game in her very first Super Bowl appearance.
- Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful” before the game begins.
- Andra Day will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” before the start of the game as well.
- Justin Bieber arrived in Vegas yesterday and is rumored to be joining Usher during his halftime performance. The two previously collaborated on Bieber’s song “Somebody to Love” in 2010 and performed together at the 2011 Grammys.
2. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift recently wrapped up four shows in Tokyo as a part of the international leg of her Eras Tour. She is expected to attend the Super Bowl to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. This will be her 13th appearance at a Chiefs game this season- her lucky number. Maybe it will be good luck for the Chiefs too!
3. The Looks
Obviously, anything Taylor Swift wears to an NFL game (or in general) ends up having a lot of eyes on it. About a month ago, she wore a custom Kelce puffer jacket designed by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of San Francisco 49er Kyle Juszczyk, to the Chiefs and Dolphins game.
Juszczyk has also created custom pieces for Olivia Culpo, Brittany Mahomes, Simone Biles, and Taylor Lautner. Recently, she auctioned off a custom-made, officially-licensed Super Bowl puffer vest. The winning bid was $75,000, with proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. I cannot wait to see what looks she’s created for the Super Bowl!
4. The Commercials
The Super Bowl is pretty much the only time that I don’t want to skip commercials. A few of this year’s commercials have been released already, like CeraVe’s ad starring Michael Cera and this one for e.l.f. in which the cast of Suits reunited in Judge Judy’s courtroom.
I am definitely looking forward to seeing others tonight!
5. And the Actual Football Game
The Chiefs and 49ers last played each other in the Super Bowl in February 2020, and the Chiefs won. Now, here they both are again. Will history repeat itself?
If the Chiefs win tonight, they will be the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls in 20 years. The last team to do so was the New England Patriots, who won in both 2004 and 2005. The 49ers have been waiting much, much longer for a Super Bowl win. The last time they won a Super Bowl was nearly 30 years ago, in 1995.
What is your favorite part of the Super Bowl?
How about your favorite Super Bowl snack? Mine are these dill pickle roll-ups, which are super easy to make. And lastly, who are you rooting for tonight? Let me know down below. Personally, I’m rooting for the Chiefs (go Taylor’s boyfriend!).
