Hello and welcome back to another “What I’m Liking Lately” post! It’s odd to think that Easter is just over a week away- doesn’t it seem early this year? If you want to take a peek at our Easter decor, check out any of these posts:

There will be lots of holiday prep and cooking coming up within the next week, but today is all about book-ish things I’ve been liking lately. So, without further ado, let’s get into it…

Here's what I've been liking lately...

1. Emma by Jane Austen

This is one of my current reads and the first Jane Austen book I’ve read in a looooong time. I read Pride and Prejudice when I was pretty young- maybe 12 or 13? I really don’t remember. I feel like I need to read it again to get the full experience- maybe after I finish Emma!

Published in 1815, Emma follows protagonist Emma Woodhouse as she overestimates her matchmaking abilities and almost misses out on her own love story with neighbor George Knightley. There have been numerous on-screen adaptations of Emma over time, including a 1996 version starring Gwyneth Paltrow, a 2009 BBC miniseries, and a 2020 movie starring Anya Taylor-Joy (my favorite!). Clueless is also based on Austen’s novel, but offers a much more modern take on the story.

I have been loving the book so far. It’s a lot funnier than I expected, and I’m a big fan of Emma and Mr. Knightley’s banter. I’m currently reading it on Kindle Unlimited, but I have been eyeing this really beautiful physical copy of the book as well.

2. Book Journaling

I use and somewhat like Goodreads, but I can’t be the only one who thinks their rating system leaves something to be desired. Half stars would be nice, at the very least! Besides Goodreads, I also keep track of some of my reading stats using an Excel sheet, but neither of these are particularly creative.

Which is why I’ve been liking book journaling lately. Whether it’s writing down a monthly TBR or my thoughts or my favorite quotes or just decorating a page for a particular book I’m reading- I think there’s something to be said for writing in an actual, physical journal. I also made a place in my journal to track the reading challenge I made for myself for 2024 (check out some ideas here).

I use this this journal from Talia, if you’re curious. I really like that you can move the pages around in it, or easily remove one if you mess something up.

3. Sara Carolli's YouTube Channel

I enjoy watching book-themed YouTube videos and Sara Carolli’s are some of my favorites! I love her book reviews, monthly wrap-ups, and TBR videos, in particular. We don’t have the exact same taste in books, but I find it really interesting to see what she and other creators are reading and their opinions on different books/series/genres. Sara has also been posting a lot of longer vlogs lately, which I like putting on as I’m cleaning or doing stuff around the house.
