Hello, Luke and Lorelai fans! Welcome to another episode guide featuring Stars Hollow’s star couple. Today we’re talking about the most important episodes for Lorelai and Luke throughout season 4 of Gilmore Girls, perhaps the most pivotal season for the two.

There’s dancing and flower crowns, a little bit of jealousy, and a very eventful mock opening for Lorelai’s new inn. Let’s get right into this episode guide!

The Best Lorelai and Luke Episodes of Season 4:

“The Lorelais’ First Day at Yale”

(Season 4, Episode 2)

Luke shifts into dad mode for Rory when Lorelai asks to use his truck to move her into her Yale dorm. As Luke says to Christopher in a later season, “Who the hell moved her mattress into her dorm and out of her dorm… and into her dorm again?” Luke, it was Luke.

“The Fundamental Things Apply”

(Season 4, Episode 5)

Lorelai invites Luke over for a Gilmore movie night, something she would typically do with Rory if she wasn’t away at school. Luke isn’t really a big film fan nor does he understand the rules of girls’ movie night, but he is a good sport about the whole thing.

“In the Clamor and the Clangor”

(Season 4, Episode 11)

Luke has been (kind of) living with his girlfriend/wife Nicole in neighboring Litchfield, something Lorelai just learns about in this episode. She is very bothered by the fact that Luke no longer lives in Stars Hollow, but Luke doesn’t understand why. Yes, why Lorelai? Why does Luke living with another woman bother you so much?

“Nag Hammadi Is Where They Found the Gnostic Gospels”

(Season 4, Episode 13)

After a horrible argument with Jess, Luke heads to Lorelai’s house. While Luke fixes a broken window in her living room, Lorelai tries to repair the damage Jess’ words did.

“The Incredible Sinking Lorelais”

(Season 4, Episode 14)

Lorelai was there for Luke at a low point in the last episode, and now Luke returns the favor.

Lorelai is being pulled in a hundred different directions as she struggles to fund the final construction of The Dragonfly Inn. Not knowing who else to turn to, she breaks down to Luke, saying she planned to ask for $30,000 to help finish the inn.

“Scene In a Mall”

(Season 4, Episode 15)

Luke does in fact give Lorelai $30,000 to help finish construction on the inn. But, is anyone really surprised? When Lorelai needs someone, Luke is always there.

“Girls in Bikinis, Boys Doin’ the Twist”

(Season 4, Episode 17)

Lorelai picks Luke up from jail after he “beats up” the car of the man he suspects Nicole is having an affair with. Looks like that relationship is done… for good this time.

“Luke Can See Her Face”

(Season 4, Episode 20)

After finalizing his divorce from Nicole in episode 19, Luke purchases a self-help book and tape from Andrew’s bookstore. As the tape prompts him to envision the woman he loves, he can clearly see her face. Whose face though? Any guesses? Of course, it’s Lorelai- it’s always been Lorelai.

“Last Week Fights, This Week Tights”

(Season 4, Episode 21)

Knowing that Lorelai is the one for him, Luke invites her to attend Liz and TJ’s wedding with him. Lorelai, fresh off her breakup with Jason, is swept off her feet (literally and figuratively) by Luke. This is one of my favorite episodes!

“Raincoats and Recipes”

(Season 4, Episode 22)

In the season finale, Lorelai is hosting a mock opening for The Dragonfly Inn, inviting everyone in town to stay the night. Luke, of course, attends and is confused when Jason shows up to try to get Lorelai back. Luke thought his intentions were clear, and Lorelai assures him that things with Jason are over. Finally, the two kiss (before being interrupted by a frightened and naked Kirk).

That’s all for Luke and Lorelai in season 4!

Finally, finally, FINALLY- they are together! It was a long time coming for these two.
